Supporting newcomer ELLs can feel overwhelming. Newcomers often arrive with limited English, unfamiliarity with school routines, and big emotional transitions. Without the right tools, it’s easy to fall into a cycle of reactive teaching and last-minute planning.

That’s why Day 4 is all about intentional, easy-to-implement differentiation for newcomers. Instead of guessing what to do next or scrambling for resources, you can focus on building relationships and creating a welcoming, consistent learning environment.

In the long run, a strong plan not only helps your students make faster progress — it helps you feel less overwhelmed and more in control.
