Intermediate ELLs often fall into what educators call the “invisible middle.” They’ve moved beyond the basics, so they may no longer receive the same level of structured support as newcomers — yet they’re still developing the language skills needed for grade-level academic success. Without intentional scaffolding, these students can stagnate, struggle silently, or fall through the cracks.
That’s why our Day 5 focus is on strategic, easy-to-implement differentiation for intermediate ELLs. These students need tasks that stretch their skills without overwhelming them — and teachers need tools that don’t require hours of extra prep.Â
